Hari Merdeka is the day to celebrate the Federation of Malaya's independence from the British Empire on the 31st of August 1957. Flags and shimmering lights, parades and stage shows are all a part of the celebrations. We are paying tribute to the national day with a Malaysian-inspired banquet featuring all of the country's favourite dishes.
